Tesla's Robotaxi Launch: More Rules Than Rides at Disneyland
This report is only screenshots of the rules Tesla sent to influencers invited to the Austin launch of Tesla's robotaxi
This is a very quick note made up mostly of screenshots of rules Tesla sent out to their influencers for the robotaxi launch in Austin.
The invitation has no specified date for the event. This may have to do with final touches on the staged event or it might have to do with the State of Texas passing a law by Sunday that would render Tesla’s robotaxis illegal (see my note from yesterday here).
Waymo was valued at $45 billion in their last funding round in October 2024. Waymo does 1 million paid robotaxi rides per month. Tesla, with its $1.1 trillion market cap, has rules for its first robotaxi rides: Can’t pick you up if the weather is bad or if you arrive at the airport at certain times.
Also, there will be Tesla drivers in the car, which belies all of Musk’s claims that Tesla’s FSD is 100x safer than human drivers.
No drugs allowed, which may cause problems for the author of this tweet, who is also Musk’s top influencer and unofficial spokesman for Tesla FSD.
No kids allowed in Tesla robotaxis. Maybe it’s best to have Texas enforce the rules that will make Tesla’s FSD illegal until it gets Level 4 autonomy certification.
Eerrr...if there's a driver in the seat it's not much of an autonomous taxi is it?! Couldn't even pull off the remote control like with the bots...much to the surprise of nobody outside of Elon and Tesla.
Watch the hype about so safe the safety driver is bored
