Tesla is the only carmaker in the US to make all of its cars locally. But 30% of Tesla's parts come from abroad & this will hurt them at a time when they need lower costs.
Regarding the Trump 25% automotive tariffs, this is all you need to know: If you make cars in the US—like Tesla—but have a 25% increase in auto parts imported from Mexico & Canada, you can’t haggle as usual because the parts makers have lower margins and won’t be able to absorb a 25% cost hike you’ve just received.
